To celebrate the 2007 Centenary of the Surf Lifesaving Association and the Year of the Surf Lifesaver, the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery and Museum is preparing an exhibition telling the story of the Gladstone and Tannum Sands Surf Lifesavers.

It's not too late to view all the entries in this year's Australia Day Art Competition as they are now on display at the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery and Museum.

The inaugural competition proved a great success at the Australia Day festivities held on January 26 at the Toondoon Botanic Gardens with the winners' artworks being printed on free commemorative postcards.

Organisations and individuals seeking funding assistance for arts and cultural activities are encouraged to apply for the Gladstone and Calliope Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF).

To promote arts development in the region, the State Government, Gladstone City Council and Calliope Shire Council jointly fund the venture.

Patterns, water, summer holidays and a lifetime of painting are all on offer this summer season with four exciting new exhibitions on display at the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum.

There was a strong turn-out at the announcement of the 31st Comalco Martin Hanson Memorial Art Awards on Saturday 4 November at the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery and Museum.

Artists, sponsors and community members attended the much anticipated event to hear the results read out by 2006 Judge Anne Kirker.

This year 354 entries were received from 219 artists, of which, 120 were local artists.

The opening celebration of the annual Comalco Martin Hanson Memorial Art Awards is the biggest arts event on the region's social calendar with artists and supporters joining in the festivities to help celebrate and further the arts and culture in our region.
