Aussie Art Still On Display
It's not too late to view all the entries in this year's Australia Day Art Competition as they are now on display at the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery and Museum.
The inaugural competition proved a great success at the Australia Day festivities held on January 26 at the Toondoon Botanic Gardens with the winners' artworks being printed on free commemorative postcards.
The overall winner was Laura Darrach's collage Koala. In her artist statement Laura wrote: 'The koala is lovable, cuddly, lives in the trees, eats only eucalypt leaves, does not drink, is an icon to Australia and loved by all. Tourists come to photograph and cuddle them'.
The free postcards are still available while stocks last at the Tondoon Botanic Gardens and at the Gallery/Museum.
