The Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum’s Museum in a Box initiative brings history and art directly into your school!
The Gladstone Regional Art Gallery and Museum (GRAGM) contains a social history museum that houses an extensive Cultural Heritage Collection. The Gallery and Museum building was originally designed to be a town hall in 1934, however in 1985 it was converted to its current purpose. The building is heritage listed and you can still see the ‘Town Hall’ sign from the street view.
There are lots of different collections stored in the museum. These museum boxes have been specifically designed by theme that aligns with year F-6 Australian Curriculum Version 9. They can be used in a School, or homeschool setting, with the intention to provide students a range of tactile and 3D objects to spark their curiosity and learning.
Each box contains a curated collection of museum artefacts and other objects such as books, maps, and pictures that are to be used to explore a particular aspect of Gladstone Cultural Heritage. There are accompanying questions and prompts for students that can be used by the teacher to guide a lesson.
