The Gladstone Regional Art Gallery and Museum’s Museum in a Box initiative brings history and art directly into your learning environment!
The Gladstone Regional Art Gallery and Museum (GRAGM) contains a social history museum that houses an extensive Cultural Heritage Collection. The Gallery and Museum building was originally designed to be the Town Hall in 1934, and in 1985 it was converted to its current purpose of the Gallery and Museum. The building is heritage listed and you can still see ‘Town Hall’ in the front arch, looking from the street view.
Each box will contain a curated collection of museum artefacts and other objects such as books, maps, and pictures that are to be used to explore a particular aspect of Gladstone Cultural Heritage. There are accompanying questions and prompts for students that can be used by the teacher to guide a lesson.
Each Museum in a Box will have specifically themed contents that align with the Australian Curriculum. They can be used in a School, or homeschool setting, with the intention to provide students a range of tactile and 3D objects to spark curiosity and learning.
