Presenting a collection of works inspired by the artist’s sister, Muscles and Brushstrokes is a dedication to her, and how bodybuilding became a journey of strength and resilience after a difficult period in her life. Ping intentionally obscures her sister's identity, allowing the works to focus on strength and determination, and the enduring bond between sisters. This exhibition presents the artist’s first series of oil paintings, following years of working primarily in watercolour.

Moving to Australia as an immigrant was a challenging experience for Ping. Leaving behind family, friends, and familiar culture often left her feeling lonely and lacking motivation, especially during difficult times. Above all, she missed her sister, and their very close relationship.

Muscles and Brushstrokes is a tribute to the bond between two sisters. Although following different paths, one expressing herself through physical discipline, the other through painting, they share the same determination to overcome life's challenges. Across distance and time, they continue to support and inspire one another.
