2015 Judge: Mr Simon Wright. Simon has held programming, exhibition, curatorial and management positions in private, commercial, public gallery and museum realms since 1993. Currently he is the Assistant Director of Learning and Public Engagement at Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAG|GOMA).
QAL People's Choice Awards: Come along to the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum, 10am - 5pm, Monday to Saturday, to view The 40th Rio Tinto Martin Hanson Memorial Art Awards & Exhibition 2015. Vote for your favourite work in each of the 4 sections of entry: (1) Easel Works; (2) Works on Paper; (3) Three Dimensional and Fibre Works; (4) Digital Works; to be in the running to win a two-night, all inclusive package at 1770 Getaway Retreat. By completing the QAL People’s Choice Awards electronic voting form, you are giving consent for your details held by the Rio Tinto Community Fund, to be used for the competition draw only, relating to the ‘voter’s prize’. The prize consists of a 2 night stay in a one-bedroom villa for 2 adults, including breakfast daily in the Garden Café, one dinner to the value of $200.00 at the Plantation restaurant at Lagoons 1770 Resort & Spa and a ‘Lunch & Larc’ tour for two adults. Limit of one entry per person. Prizes are strictly subject to availability and blackout dates may apply. Prize is valid until 30 June 2016. The competition is open to all people who view the 2015 Rio Tinto Martin Hanson Memorial Art Awards Exhibition at the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum within the competition dates. Entries must be lodged via the iPad kiosks in the Gallery to qualify. Competition opens 6pm Saturday 17 October 2015 and closes 12pm, Wednesday 2 December 2015. The winner of the competition will be drawn by a random computerized draw at the offices of Vivo Group, 9 Creswell St, Newstead, Brisbane, QLD 4000 on Wednesday 2 December 2015. Winner will be notified by phone and email and will be invited to attend the Rio Tinto Community Fund Cocktail Function, Thursday 3 December 6.30pm (transportation to the event at their own cost).
