To be involved or not to be involved? That is the question…
There are numerous opportunities for local artists to be involved in upcoming exhibitions and events at the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum. For promising young actors and actresses "All The World's A Stage" is calling for performers (aged 11 - 17) to reserve their place in a FREE 3 day acting workshop run by local theatre group, The Bunbury Players. At the end of the workshop, The Bunbury Players and workshop participants will present a series of short sketches from The Bard's comedies during two live performances. For those who prefer to be behind the camera rather than in front, the annual display Intercity Images: Gladstone Saiki Photographic Exchange is currently calling for 2015 submissions.
Now in the 13th year, Intercity Images invites photographers of the Gladstone Region to capture the spirit of Central Queensland’s lifestyle, people and environment. Thanks to the initiatives of the Gladstone Saiki Sister City Advisory Committee and the support of Gladstone Regional Council, the exchange encourages photographers of all ages and abilities to submit up to two images each by 4pm, Saturday 28 February. All entries will then be displayed in the exhibition at the Gallery & Museum, 7 March - 11 April, before thirty are selected by a panel of Judges and are sent to Sister City, Saiki City in Japan for display in June. The announcement of the selected images will be at the official launch of the exhibition 6pm, Friday 6 March.
Intercity Images entry forms can be found at most Gladstone Regional Council venues, libraries and offices or downloaded below.
For the budding thespians, the 3 day workshop "All The World's A Stage" will be tutored by special guest performer Bryan Nason from Brisbane's Grin & Tonic Theatre Troupe. Thanks to Gladstone Regional Council and DeparturePoint, the workshop will be held 10am - 2pm, Tuesday 24, Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 February at the Gallery & Museum where students will be introduced to some of Shakespeare's plays and learn acting techniques. After learning from performance royalty - Bryan Nason, workshop actors will then entertain audiences at two lively shows; 7pm, Thursday 26 February and 7pm, Friday 27 February. The performances will be FREE for all ages to attend and everyone is welcome, reserve your seat by phoning (07) 4976 6766. If you are interested in attending the FREE workshop, phone (07) 4978 6594, RSVP essential.
