Young Artists Invited to Exhibit Work

Young artists are invited to show their creative talent at the upcoming Golding Showcase: Port Curtis Callide Valley Youth Art Exhibition.

Held at the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum the annual exhibition provides an opportunity for young and emergent artists to display their work professionally in the region?s largest gallery space.

This is an excellent opportunity for young people to view their own work displayed in a professionally-run public art gallery alongside that of their peers.

This year the artworks will appear alongside those in the 2006 Education Minister's Awards for Excellence which comprises artworks from senior secondary school art students across Queensland.

The young entrants could also see their artwork chosen as the face of next year's Golding Showcase, when the public are invited to vote for their favourite.

All artists aged 15-18 years living in the Port Curtis region are eligible to enter.

Important Dates:

  1. Submission of entries 26-28 July
  2. Exhibition dates 6 August - 8 September
  3. Official Opening co-hosted by Chanel College 6pm, Monday, 6 August

The Golding Showcase is sponsored by Gladstone Regional Art Gallery and Museum Society's patron, Mr. Cyril Golding, who also supports young artists in the region by providing the Society Bursary.

Applications are now open for The Gladstone Regional Art Gallery and Museum Society Bursary which is available to young students planning to undertake visual arts study at a tertiary level. The Bursary provides $3000 towards costs associated with attending university.

For entry forms and further information about the Showcase and/or Society Bursary please contact the Gallery/Museum on 4976 6766.
