Visit and Vote - Youth Art Takes Over Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum

It's that time again; The 'Golding Showcase: Port Curtis Callide Valley Youth Art Exhibition' is on display at the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum until 6 August 2016.  Running for 22 years, the exhibition features works in all mediums by local visual art students, aged 15 to 18 years.

This year's exhibition is larger than ever with collaborations from eight local high schools including Biloela State High, Chanel College, Faith Baptist Christian School, Gladstone State High, St Stephens Lutheran College, Tannum Sands State High, Toolooa State High and Trinity College.  Eighty-eight innovative artists submitted more than 110 vibrant artworks, featuring paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures, assemblages, photography and new media.

Each year the Gallery & Museum invites a partnering school to assist in installing and presenting the exhibition and this year Trinity College accepted the offer.  As part of the program, Trinity College's visual arts students assisted staff and volunteers to install the exhibition and at the official exhibition launch, the school's music and hospitality students provided the food and entertainment for guests.

Now that the exhibition is open, visitors are invited to vote for the coveted 2016 People's Choice Award.  Announced at the conclusion of the exhibition, the winning work will become the "face" of all publicity material for the following year's exhibition.

'Golding Showcase' is an initiative of the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum Society, supported by the late Society patron, Mr Cyril Golding (1920-2012).  The Gallery & Museum is opened 10am - 5pm, Monday to Saturday.
