'Rule of Thirds', Children's Drawing Activity

School Holidays at the Gallery & Museum

Bring the family to visit the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum these school holidays. With four family friendly exhibitions available to explore and discover, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Heritage exhibition, 'Rule of Thirds', takes a closer look at photographs and cameras held in the Gallery & Museum's historical archives. Discover the specialist equipment used by professional photographers of the Gladstone Region between 1869 and 1980. Within this display is a children's activity which encourages them to setup a scene using found objects.  Children then have the opportunity to draw this scene while considering the "rule of thirds" guidelines.  This fun interactive drawing activity is FREE for children to try and is available until the exhibition closes on October 8.

Within the touring exhibition, 'Tattersall’s Club Landscape Art Prize’, there is another FREE children's activity for families to 'Explore the Exhibition' together.  The activity invites visitors to admire the 15 Award winning landscape artworks on display while also developing their own artistic skills and understanding.  On show until October 1, the exhibition celebrates the Tattersall's Club’s 150th anniversary and 25 years of their national Landscape Art Prize.

The 'Tattersall’s Club Landscape Art Prize’ is organised by Tattersall's Club and toured by Museums & Galleries Queensland. This project is supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.

The Gallery & Museum is always FREE to visit and is open 10am - 5pm, Monday to Saturday.
