QAL People's Choice Awards End Exhibition on a High
The Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum is pleased to announce this year's QAL People's Choice Award Winners as:
Section 1: Easel Paintings ($500): Gail Thomas with Equine Trio
Section 2: Works On Paper ($500): James Thomas Nightingale with Untitled 2
Section 3: Three Dimensional & Fibre Works ($500): Dan Carlyon with What's the Buzz?
Section 4: Digital Works ($500): Earl Haigh with Awoonga Nights
Congratulations to all artists who entered this year and thank you to everyone who took the time to visit the exhibition.
Close to 3000 visitors explored the exhibition with almost 500 people voting in the QAL People's Choice Awards competition.
One lucky voter, Angela Scheers, was also awarded a weekend trip to Heron Island just for casting her vote thanks to Queensland Alumina Limited.
"We cannot thank our sponsors, supporters and most importantly, artists, enough for making this year's Rio Tinto Alcan Martin Hanson Memorial Art Awards so brilliant," said Jo Duke, Curator of the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum.
"It has been the most amazing last five weeks and we can't wait to start it all again for next year when we celebrate the 40th anniversary of our Region's Art Awards".
The exhibition closed with this exciting announcement of the QAL People's Choice Awards winners at a private function on Thursday, 11 December 2014.

The Gallery & Museum is open 10am - 5pm Monday to Saturday and is located on the cnr of Goondoon & Bramston Sts, Gladstone.
