Photographic Exhibition Launch, March 3
Annual favourite, Intercity Images: Gladstone Saiki Photographic Exchange will open 6pm, 3 March 2017 at the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum. Join Mayor of Gladstone Region, Cr Matt Burnett, as he officially launches the exhibition and congratulates the 30 finalist images.
Now in its 15th year, Intercity Images invited photographers of the Gladstone Region to capture the spirit of Central Queensland’s lifestyle, people and environment. Thanks to the initiatives of the Gladstone Saiki Sister City Advisory Committee and the support of Gladstone Regional Council, the exchange enticed local photographers to enter 92 photographs.
All entries will be on display at the Gallery & Museum from, 4 March until 29 April 2017.
The exhibition is one of the many cultural exchange programs the Gallery & Museum coordinates annually with the Region's Japanese Sister City, Saiki City. This year marks the 21st anniversary of the Sister City friendship.
At Friday's launch, it will be announced which of the entries were selected by a panel of judges as the 30 finalists. Those photographers whose work has been selected will each receive a certificate at the exhibition's opening to commemorate their achievement and their photographs will be enlarged and sent for display is Saiki City, Japan, in June 2017.
The Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum is located on the corner of Goondoon & Bramston Streets, Gladstone. It is open 10am-5pm, Monday to Saturday (including ANZAC Day), with FREE admission.
