Photographic Exhibition Launch, April 1
Annual favourite, Intercity Images: Gladstone Saiki Photographic Exchange will open 6pm tomorrow night, Friday 1 April 2016 at the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum. Join newly appointed Mayor of Gladstone Region, Cr Matt Burnett, as he officially launches the exhibition and congratulates the 30 finalist images.
Now in its 14th year, Intercity Images invited photographers of the Gladstone Region to capture the spirit of Central Queensland’s lifestyle, people and environment. Thanks to the initiatives of the Gladstone Saiki Sister City Advisory Committee and the support of Gladstone Regional Council, the exchange enticed 37 photographers to enter 70 photographs.
All entries will be on display at the Gallery & Museum from this Saturday, 2 April until 29 April 2016.
The exhibition is one of the many cultural exchange programs the Gallery & Museum coordinates annually with the Region's Japanese Sister City, Saiki City. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Sister City friendship.
At Friday's launch, it will be announced which of the 70 entries were selected by a panel of judges as the 30 finalists. Those photographers whose work has been selected will each receive a certificate at the exhibition's opening to commemorate their achievement.
The Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum is located on the corner of Goondoon & Bramston Streets, Gladstone. It is open 10am-5pm, Monday to Saturday (including ANZAC Day), with FREE admission.
