Opening Doors for Briana to Attend M.A.D Camp 2013

These school holidays Briana Braithwaite is off to Ipswich Girls Grammar School to take part in the exciting M.A.D Camp 2013, a camp specially designed for young artists to attend, learning all things music, art, dance and drama related.

Artslink Queensland annually run this week long, multi-arts intensive residency program for secondary school students in Years 10, 11 and 12, providing an opportunity to connect young people and the arts.  This year Gladstone Arts Council Inc. and The Wild Goose Theatre Company teamed up to offer a young local from the region a fully paid bursary to attend.  Applications were written and Miss Braithwaite was the lucky local selected to receive this generous financial assistance.

Briana was ecstatic to hear the news of her scholarship success, thanking Wild Goose and Gladstone Arts Council for the amazing experience she is about to undergo.  "Events like M.A.D Camp give young people like me the confidence and that little push I need, to follow a career in the area I love."

"Wild Goose are thrilled to partner with the Gladstone Arts Council Inc. in order to support local talent within our community" said the local spokesperson from the Wild Goose Theatre Company.  "We look forward to continued support at our events in order to provide funding for aspiring young performers, like Briana, again in the future."

Briana is a complete package when it comes to the arts.  She recently self-funded a trip to Sydney where she attended a week at the Drama School NIDA (National Institute of Dramatic Arts).  Her love of acting has already seen her perform in two school musicals.  She is young woman of many talents, also playing several instruments and performing in multiple school bands.  Her recent career highlight was playing principal Flute/Piccolo in the recent community extravaganza, Boomtown.

Gladstone Arts Council Inc. President, Wesley Walker, said "We are all pleased to work together in providing this opportunity for such a worthy and passionate recipient as Briana.   We wish her all the best at camp and for the future of her arts career."
