GET INTERACTIVE WITH NEW EXHIBITIONS
CARAVAN OF CURIOSITIES OPEN:
Brand new to the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum is Caravan of Curiosities.
Rockhampton artists, Nanette Balchin, Peta Lloyd and Emma Ward, have encapsulated a sense of journey, adventure and odyssey through their discovery and experience of places, people and curious things.
Featuring metaphors and synonyms for both “caravan” and “curiosity”, the exhibition's interconnecting ideas explore the artists' creative adventures. The three artists explained that they are tinkers, travelers and collectors, all sharing their own journeys and stories though these artworks.
Caravan of Curiosities presents a wide diversity of 2D and 3D work encompassing assemblage, artist books, encaustic, painting, drawing, printmaking, amulets and a collaborative work of curious Black Boxes.
The exhibition also features an intriguing and interactive installation where audiences are encouraged to reassemble an artwork and photograph themselves with it.
