FREE workshops to help celebrate Australia Day 2016
As part of local Australia Day 2016 celebrations, the Gladstone Regional Council is calling for entries in the Celebrate Australia Primary School Art Competition.
The competition is open to ALL primary school aged children in the Gladstone Region to help us to celebrate 'what and who makes Australia great'. To enter students simply have to draw, paint or collage an aspect of Australia they believe is iconic on a sheet of A4 paper.
There are two sections: 2015 Prep to 2015 Year 2 and 2015 Year 3 to 2015 Year 6.
In 2016, entries will be displayed in the Visitors Centre Gallery, Tondoon Botanic Gardens 9-31 January, at the Mezzanine Floor, Leo Zussino Building, CQUniversity Gladstone Campus from 2-28 February and at the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum to 5-31 March. Digital displays of the entries will be hosted at Council venues and offices across the region January to April 2016.
Winners will be announced during Gladstone Regional Council's 2016 Australia Day celebrations, Tuesday, 26 January 2016.
Works will be judged by Gallery & Museum former Director, Pamela Whitlock and the winning artist from each age group will receive some fantastic prizes including a FAMILY pass to a 2016 Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre show. Winners' artworks will be printed as 2016 Gladstone Region Australia Day complimentary commemorative postcards, available during the celebrations and exhibition.
