FREE workshops to help Celebrate Australia Day 2015
As part of local Australia Day 2015 celebrations, the Gladstone Regional Council is calling for entries in the Celebrate Australia Primary School Art Competition.
The competition is open to ALL primary school aged children in the Gladstone Region to help us to celebrate 'what and who makes Australia great'. To enter students simply have to draw, paint or collage an aspect of Australia they believe is iconic on a sheet of A4 paper.
There are two sections: Prep to Year 3 and Year 4 to Year 7.
In 2015, entries will be displayed in the Visitors Centre Gallery, Tondoon Botanic Gardens 10-31 January, at the Mezzanine Floor, Leo Zussino Building, CQUniversity Gladstone Campus from 2-28 February and at the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum to 2-30 March. Digital displays of the entries will be hosted at Council venues and offices across the region.
Winners will be announced during Gladstone Regional Council's 2015 Australia Day celebrations, 3pm - 7pm Monday, 26 January 2015, Millennium Esplanade, Tannum Sands.
Works will be judged by Gallery & Museum Curator, Jo Duke and the winning artist from each age group will receive some fantastic prizes including a FAMILY pass to a 2015 Gladstone Entertainment Centre show. Winners' artwork will be printed as 2015 Gladstone Region Australia Day complimentary commemorative postcards, available during the celebrations and exhibition.
To assist budding artists with their entries three FREE workshops with local artist Sue Daw are on offer, basic materials will be provided, just bring your art gear and great ideas.
