FREE KIDS ACTIVITES OVER THE HOLIDAYS!

The Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum welcomes visits from families these school holidays by offering kids' fun activities daily!  Currently on display are five unique and interesting exhibitions to experience, each with a kids activity running in conjunction with it!

As part of the Pioneering Women: The Russian Experience exhibition children are encouraged to create small traditional dolls from pieces of recycled material and found items. In the Russian culture these dolls are considered to have protective qualities for the children who make them.  This FREE activity is available daily until the exhibition closes Saturday 13 April 2013.

Saiki City in Japan is the Gladstone Region’s Sister City. Get creative with the 2013 Intercity Images: Gladstone Saiki Photographic Exchange exhibition and try making some Japanese themed paper henna dolls or ninjas. This FREE activity is available daily until the exhibition closes Saturday 4 May 2013.

Coastal Saga is a reminder that early explorers took artists with them on their voyages to record what they discovered by sketching the unfamiliar flora and fauna they came across. In this exhibition's activity children are invited to try some botanical drawing themselves. This FREE activity is available daily until the exhibition closes Wednesday 3 April 2013.

Coming Out displays some of the unique treasures held within the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum’s permanent collection. The Gallery/Museum is celebrating these artworks by providing some hands-on building activities for kids to enjoy. These are available daily until the exhibition closes Saturday 6 April 2013.

Entries were called from the region’s young artists to celebrate ‘who and what makes Australia great’ for the annual Celebrate Australia Primary School Art Competition. Winners were announced in January and all entries will remain on display until the exhibition closes Monday 15 April 2013.

As always, the Gallery/Museum has the Explore the Exhibition! Children's Activity Book designed to help kids understand the exhibiting displays by discovering and answering simple questions. A fun stamp is available to those clever kids that can answer all the questions!

With so much going on these Easter school holidays, make sure the family finds time to visit the Gallery/Museum!
