ARTWORKS SHINE IN TRAVELLING EXHIBITION
Creative Generation Excellence Awards in Visual Art 2012 – 2013 Touring Exhibition
The outstanding talent of 34 senior visual art students from across the state will be showcased in the Creative Generation Excellence Awards in Visual Art 2012 – 2013 Touring Exhibition. With the support of Museum and Gallery Services Queensland, the exhibition is touring to venues throughout Queensland, opening at Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum on Monday 12 August 2013.
The Creative Generation Excellence Awards in Visual Art touring exhibition is a vibrant collection of artwork by Queensland’s top high school visual art students, showcasing works on paper, sculpture, film, printmaking, photography and mixed media. The exhibition aims to recognise and promote excellence in senior visual arts education throughout Queensland state and non-state secondary schools.
Held annually since 1990, the awards have helped raise community awareness about the degree of sophistication in concepts, diversity of technical competence, and the high standard of arts programs in Queensland.
Schools are invited to submit their student’s best paintings, sculptures, works on paper and new media. Short-listed artworks are displayed in regional exhibitions, with the winning works showcased at the Gallery of Modern Art and then toured throughout regional centres in the following eighteen months. Award recipients join professional artists for a residential workshop in September each year.
The exhibition tour includes a screening of interviews with the students discussing their works and an online catalogue of the art works on display.
A Department of Education, Training and Employment exhibition supported by the Gallery of Modern Art and toured by Museum and Gallery Services Queensland.
