APT9 Kids on Tour to host family fun day in Gladstone Region

If you’re looking for something to do with the kids this weekend, look no further than the APT9 Kids on Tour Family Fun Day taking place at the Gladstone Regional Gallery & Museum Saturday 19 January.

This dynamic program, filled with hands-on and multimedia activities, is an extension of the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art’s current exhibition, ‘The 9th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art’ (APT9).

Gladstone Regional Council Mayor Matt Burnett said the APT9 Kids on Tour program features free activities that are specially designed for children and families.

“This program enables our community to enjoy key elements of the original APT9 exhibition in our own backyard,” Councillor Burnett said.

“It includes hands-on art-making activities and interactive virtual experiences that highlight key themes in the APT9 exhibition, including the preciousness of life and natural resources, the importance of community and storytelling.”

Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum Manager / Curator Jo Duke said the APT9 Kids on Tour would travel to more than 100 regional galleries, libraries and community centres across Queensland and the Torres Strait.

“The APT9 Kids on Tour will enable children to experience and explore contemporary art from Australia, Asia and the Pacific,” she said.
