2018 Celebrate Australia: Primary School Art Competition now open
As part of 2018 Australia Day celebrations, Gladstone Regional Council is calling for primary school entries in the Celebrate Australia Primary School Art Competition. Open to ALL 2017 primary school aged students in the Gladstone Region, the competition asks them to consider 'what and who makes Australia great'.
Children are encouraged to think about the iconic aspects of our Australian lifestyle and what Australia Day really means to them. Entries must be on a sheet of A4 paper and can be drawn, painted or collaged. There are two sections of entry: Section one includes Prep to Year 2; Section two includes Year 3 to Year 6.
In 2018, all entries will be displayed at CQUniversity’s Gladstone Marina Campus Visitors Centre Gallery during January, Gladstone Tondoon Botanic Gardens during February and Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum during March. Digital displays of the entries will be hosted at selected Council venues and offices across the region from January to April and a selection of finalist entries will travel to Saiki City, Japan in June.
Artworks will be judged by Gallery & Museum Curator Jo Duke and the winning artist from each age group will receive some fantastic prizes including their winning entry printed as 2018 Gladstone Regional Council Australia Day commemorative postcards and a Gladstone Cinemas FAMILY Pass (2A & 2C).
Entries must be delivered to the Gallery & Museum, corner Goondoon & Bramston Streets, by 4pm Friday, 15 December 2017. Winners will be announced during the Gladstone Regional Council's Australia Day Celebrations, Friday 26 January 2018. For more information, visit gragm.qld.gov.au
