Calling for Photographic Entries
It’s that time again! Time to pull the trusty camera back out and get snapping! Intercity Images: Gladstone Saiki City Photographic Exchange has re-opened for another year thanks to the initiatives of the Gladstone Saiki Sister City Advisory Committee and the support of Queensland Alumina Limited as well as the Gladstone Regional Council. For those new to the area, Intercity Images in an annual photographic exchange open to the Gladstone Region residents. From novice to professional, all photographers are invited to capture the spirit of Central Queensland’s lifestyle, people and environment, and be a part of a community built exhibition.
In 2012 the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery and Museum had 165 entries submitted to the exhibition, this year the Gallery/Museum is hoping for over 200! Entry forms are out now and are available to download from the Gallery/Museum website; www.gladstonerc.qld.gov.au/gallerymuseum. Hard copies can be collected from any of the Gladstone Regional Council venues. Each photographer can submit up to two entries each and a panel of judges will select thirty to be sent to our region’s sister city, Saiki, in Japan. Start gathering together your entries now as the final day for submissions is 5pm, Saturday 16 March.
All photographs go on display at the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum, with the official launch, announcement of selected images and presentation of certificates happening 5:30pm, Friday 22 March. The exhibition will continue until 4 May. The thirty selected images will be posted to Japan for display there during the month of June.
The Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum is located on the corner of Goondoon & Bramston Streets, Gladstone. It is open 10am to 5pm, Monday to Friday with FREE admission. The Gallery/Museum will be closed Good Friday, but open for Easter Saturday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday.
