2011 Celebrate NAIDOC Primary School Art Competition

In support of NAIDOC Week 2011, the Gladstone Regional Council is calling for entries in the 2011 Celebrate NAIDOC Week Primary School Art Competition.

The competition is open to ALL primary school students in the Gladstone Region to help us celebrate the National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee, (NAIDOC) Week, in the Gladstone region.

Students are encouraged to think about the important aspects of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, reflecting on what the 2011 national NAIDOC theme: Change: The next step is ours, means to them.

To enter, students simply have to draw, paint, or collage the aspect of NAIDOC they believe is iconic and anything the student believes is important and meaningful to NAIDOC can be the inspiration for their artwork.

Entries close Friday June 17, winners will be announced at the official launch of the Arts NAIDOC exhibition at the Gallery/Museum 6.30pm Monday July 4 and the entries will be on display from Saturday June 25 to Saturday July 23.

There are two sections of entry Prep to Year 3 and Year 4 to Year 7 and entries must be accompanied by a completed entry form.

Entry forms are available from the Gallery/Museum, Council offices and libraries or download one here.
