Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum (GRAGM) selects exhibition in several strategic ways that reflect community desires and tourism drivers, while maintaining our commitment to growing and developing regional creative talent. We also introduce our audiences to cultural content from other regional and national centres to continue to broaden their knowledge and experiences.

Mackay artist Shelley Engwirda examines the success and failures of the Women’s Movement in We Rise. Drawing on her experience as a new grandmother, Engwirda explores the way female artists have been regarded historically through her multidisciplinary practice. The artist’s large scale patchwork quilts alongside glass work respond to what she considers major moments in the Women’s Movement from
Immerse yourself in the stories of seven local Special Seniors. Selected students from Rosedale State School interviewed the Seniors and prepared their stories to celebrate Seniors Month in Queensland.

Sharing the stories of the 1949 inaugural Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race, we celebrate 75 years of welcoming the competitors across the finish line.
This social history exhibition showcases historical images and memorabilia from Douglas Drouyn, skipper of the Sea Tang. Mr Drouyn was one of the founding members of the Queensland Cruising Yacht Club and the Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race.
A highly original exhibition that links artist Zela Bissett’s concerns for the health of our oceans, with a conviction that we can produce an environmentally friendly alternative to single-use plastic.

Through drawing and lithography, Dr Nicola Hooper uses fairy-tale iconology and rhymes to explore concepts surrounding zoonoses (animal diseases that can infect humans).
