The Gas Imaginary: Broken norms, unconventional extraction, drawings and other collaborative acts

-

'The Gas Imaginary' is an ongoing project by artist/writer Rachel O’Reilly, begun in 2012, consisting of poetry, drawings and film screenings exploring the material imagination of modern versus unconventional extraction. This is the first presentation of the project’s drawing series in the artist’s hometown of Gladstone, and has been produced in collaboration with PA/LA/CE Architects Ben Reynolds and Valle Medina, and artist Rodrigo Hernandez.

The first drawing series of 'The Gas Imaginary' was developed during a residency at the Jan van Eyck Academie in the Netherlands. The second drawing series was commissioned by Frontier Imaginaries, with the support of Arts Queensland and in collaboration with the IMA, Brisbane.

Official exhibition launch: 6pm, Monday 25 July 2016
