The Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum NAIDOC 2019 exhibition profiles art from First Nations Peoples, heritage works from the Gallery & Museum collection, as well as voices, memories, images and cultural connections.

Tony Albert’s 2006 photographic series 50perCENT, on loan from the Sunshine Coast Art Collection, managed by Caloundra Regional Gallery, forms part of the exhibition. 50perCENT features the artist and a number of his friends and fellow artists inhabiting the characters and dress of African American hip hop musicians. The title of the series is both a play on the name of hip hop star 50 CENT and an acknowledgement of Albert’s own dual heritage, as the child of an Aboriginal father and a white Australian mother.
