Domestic & Family Violence Prevention Month
May is Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month, an annual event held each May to raise community awareness of the social and personal impacts of domestic and family violence as well as the support available to those affected.
This exhibition is an initiative of the Coordinated Community Response to Domestic & Family Violence Committee (CCRDFV) thought the presentation of Love BiTES, a multi-lessoned education program focusing on the development of respectful relationships and violence prevention.
It aims to break intergenerational cycles of domestic and family violence and break increasing rates of sexual assault by supporting young people to develop respectful relationships.
Five local high schools have participated in the Love BiTES program and several playgroups have contributed artwork throughout the region. The results of which are displayed and now form part of the awareness campaign.
