International Museum Day
Every year since 1977, ICOM has organised International Museum Day (IMD), which represents a unique moment for the international museum community.
The objective of International Museum Day is to raise awareness on the fact that, “museums are an important means of cultural exchange, enrichment of cultures and development of mutual understanding, cooperation and peace among peoples”.
The theme for 2020 is Museums for Equality: Diversity and Inclusion.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 Health Emergency no physical events can be held this year.
You can find out more about International Museum Day by visiting imd.icom.museum.
Using the attached template and remembering this years theme, we invite you to enter the IMD Art Competition!
Colour, collage, recreate - there are no rules as long as your finished work represents the theme for 2020 and includes elements from the original template.
There are 3 age groups, 0-11, 12-17, 18-100, with 3 prizes on offer.
Age group 0-11 will receive an art pack from GRAGM, and age groups 12-17 & 18-100 will receive a Ken Done Merchandise Pack.
Submissions can be scanned or photographed, and emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org, along with a brief explanation of your piece and how it relates to the theme. Don't forget to include a phone number so we can contact you if you win!
