Arts and Culture Leaders Meet
Join Artsupport Australia's Queensland Manager Fiona Maxwell, Australia Council for the Arts' Chief Executive Officer Kathy Keele and Artslink Queensland Chief Executive Officer Arthur Frame at the Gallery/Museum (new time) from 11am with an 11.30am start time until 12:30pm Tuesday May 1, for a unique introduction and networking event.
The Australia Council for the Arts each year delivers more than $160 million in funding for arts organisations and artists across Australia and is the Australian Government's arts funding and advisory body.
One initiative of the Australia Council for the Arts is Artsupport Australia, established in 2003 to grow cultural philanthropy in Australia.
Artslink Queensland (formerly Queensland Arts Council) is the peak arts organisation in Queensland, linking, connecting and adding value to the arts in Queensland and is represented locally by the Gladstone Arts Council.
Gladstone Arts Council Acting President Wesley Walker described the visit as a welcomed chance to discuss and build upon the significance of arts and culture to the quality of life experienced in the region.
'The exchange of information during a face to face meeting can have an incredibly beneficial impact on access to opportunities", he said.
"A personal meeting has a more memorable effect to transcend barriers often felt between larger organisations and smaller regional groups."
The visit provides a rare opportunity for arts and cultural workers in the Gladstone Region to gain valuable insight into regional arts services and the roles of the represented organisations.
