Suburban Abstractions
A series of geometric assemblages reflecting suburban lawns by Sebastian Di Mauro.
Sebastian Di Mauro is a Senior Lecturer at the Queensland College of Art Griffith University. Since 1987 he has held over 35 solo exhibitions and has been exhibited in Australia, Europe and Asia. His work encompasses a wide range of art forms including sculpture, installation, public art, painting, and artist books.
In Suburban Abstractions3 astroturf offers a dialogue between the real and the artificial. The artworks allude to the ritualistic Australian pastime of lawn mowing and seeks to immortalise this suburban dream by creating interior works of 'grass' art.
The work also pays homage to geometric abstract painting.
Presented in conjunction with the artist.
