Scorched Memories: A Glimpse of Gladstone's Fiery History
The tell tale sign of smoke rising on the horizon evokes a sense of horror, intrigue and wonder. Spectacular and devastating, fire has caused much grief for many of Gladstone?s most beautiful and historical buildings.
Incorporating fascinating facts and little known stories, Scorched Memories presents historical photographs and memorabilia from the city's collection including images of a smouldering Skyring Sawmill, and more recent events such as the gutting of the Grand Hotel in 1985.
Providing an interesting snap shot of Gladstone?s infamous fires, the exhibition also looks at the history of the Gladstone Fire Brigade.
