Celebrate Australia Primary School Art Competition

Young artists of the Gladstone Region have the chance to get creative as Gladstone Regional Council invites primary school aged children to put pen, paint, collage or any other medium to A4 paper during the Celebrate Australia Primary School Art Competition.

initiated in 2006 with the first ever Celebrate Australia Primary School Art Competition, presented in 2007, the artworks are inspired by 'who and what' makes Australia great, featuring a range of colourful and imaginative artworks.

Artists submit one entry, accompanied by a completed entry form, in either Section One: Prep to Year 2, or Section Two: Year 3 to Year 6. Winners are announced at Gladstone Regional Councils Australia Day event.

After multiple exhibitions at Gladstone Regional Council venues each year, a selection of fourteen finalist works tour to Saiki City, Japan for a display in the Gladstone Region's Sister City.  Each entry is digitised and stored in the Gallery & Museum's digital vault.

In December 2016, a pop up public artwork was installed in Gladstone CBD, featuring 60 of the competition's winners from the past 10 years and in 2018, a pop up public artwork was installed at the Agnes Water Library, featuring the 60 finalists of 2018.
