Professional Development Program from QAGOMA Aimed At Local Teachers & Arts Workers

High school educators, arts workers and artists are invited to join staff from the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA), at the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum (GRAGM) next month for 'Art as Exchange'.

GRAGM's Exhibitions & Education Officer, Sarah Robertson said, "'Art as Exchange' is a pilot program being rolled out through Queensland as a regional touring workshop.  The Gallery & Museum will host the FREE workshop Wednesday 26 April 2017, between 4pm - 7pm."

Produced and facilitated by staff of one of Australia's leading Art Gallery organisations, this is a motivating Professional Development program about enhancing student learning through utilising technology effectively in the classroom and studio.

"It is also an excellent opportunity to connect with other like-minded teachers and arts workers in the Gladstone Region," Sarah added.

The workshop seeks to stimulate secondary student engagement with regional galleries, strengthen state-wide advocacy for arts education, and identify innovative research opportunities.

The project aims to link the diverse expertise of arts educators through focusing on current practice and to collectively prepare for upcoming shifts in local, state and national learning landscapes.

'Art as Exchange' will explore 4 areas of practice:

  1. Digital Learning: Utilising technology to enhance informal and formal education.
  2. Cultural Learning: Learning through and about culture.
  3. Arts Learning: Transforming abstract ideas into tangible outcomes through arts processes.
  4. Art and Wellbeing: Enhancing access to, and the social impact of the arts on individuals and communities.
