Official Launch of 2017 Summer Showcase

All are welcome to join Cr Cindi Bush and special guests at the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum, 6pm tomorrow, Friday 15 December 2017, to celebrate the official launch of the 2017 Summer showcase.

Opening that night:

A World View: The Tim Fairfax Gift:

This is a touring exhibition developed by the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art.  Since 2002, Tim Fairfax AC has supported QAGoMA with the acquisition of some of the most remarkable works into their collection, from monumentally scaled installations to intimate photographic works.  The dynamic display is a fitting tribute to Tim Fairfax AC and his generosity.

Art of Agnes:

This exhibition highlights the incredible skill and diversity of local artists from the Agnes Water / 1770 area.  Well-known for its beaches and surf, the Discovery Coast is now also a destination for artists to be inspired by the abounding flora and fauna.  The vibrant exhibition includes paintings, photographic works and sculptures.

By the Sea:

Just in time for summer, ‘By the Sea’ takes viewers on a nostalgic trip to the beach. Drawn from the GRAGM archives, rediscover old photographs of Tannum Sands Beach, the Golding Bequest Seashell collection, repurposed fish-scale artworks and heritage surf lifesaving uniforms.

Saiki City Children’s Art 2018:

This annual exhibition presents a series of artworks created by young children from Saiki City, Japan. This year, fifteen colourful entries are on display from students aged 7 to 15 years.

All four exhibitions will be on display, with FREE admission, until February 2018.

Please note, the Gallery & Museum will be closed between Christmas and New Year’s Day.
