The Gladstone Arts Council Inc. hosted their annual general meeting for new and current Gladstone Arts Council Inc. members in December at the Boyne Tannum Community Centre located on the corner of Hayes & Wyndham Avenue, Boyne Island.

The Arts Council elected the 2014 committee with both exisiting members continuing and welcoming two new executive committee members, invigorating new ideas for the coming year.

Members also enjoyed current Schools Liaison Officer Ms Lorna Jean McGrath, generously performing her prize winning yarn, 'To Be or Not to Be'.

The following positions were filled: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Publicity Officer and Schools Liaison Officer.

Gladstone Arts Council Inc. aim is to invigorate the cultural life of the community by encouraging artistic expression, establishing networks and providing opportunities for participation in arts and cultural activities. In 2013 the Gladstone Arts Council Inc. have supported major events such as Boomtown! and Camerata of St John's Chamber Orchestra as well as run competitions, workshops and partnered with Wild Goose Theatre Company for a MAD Camp youth bursary.

Gladstone Arts Council Inc. is an affiliate of Artslink Queensland, which is one of the largest regional arts networks and not-for-profit community based arts organisations in the state. Artslink Queensland is supported by the State and Federal Governments, as well as working closely with local Councils to play a national advocacy role for regional arts as this state’s member of the national body, Regional Arts Australia.
