Creative Regions to visit Gladstone Region

Support for individuals and groups in cultural development opportunities is on hand this month with Creative Regions' Director, Rod Ainsworth leading Strategic Project Planning Workshops in Calliope, Boyne Island and Gladstone May 24-26.

Join Rod for a group workshop or book in for a more personalised, individual session by appointment, during the afternoon Culture Clinic™ opportunities.

The workshops will be held from:

9.30am - 11.30am Tuesday May 24 in the Function Room, Calliope Library, Calliope,

9.30am - 11.30am Wednesday May 25 in the Heron Room, Boyne Tannum Community Centre and

10am - 12pm Thursday May 26 in the Think Tank, Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum, Gladstone

Creative Regions is contracted to Arts Queensland and the Australia Council on the Creative Generators Project which aims to boost support and funding to regional arts projects.

Creative Regions manages these outcomes by supporting up to four strategic projects in their concept development and implementation per year. The four projects are assessed through an Expression of Interest process and an independent group of volunteer advisors.

Rod Ainsworth’s visit to the Gladstone Region will include three strategic project development sessions aimed at developing new ideas or hearing about existing ideas that fit the criteria for a strategic project which are:

  • Has an identified key driver/s
  • Addresses a strategic issue for the region
  • The idea offers a unique concept that can be developed into a project that provides an example of high level regional arts practice
  • There is a clear pathway for funding/sponsorship for the project
  • There is demonstrated local commitment from the arts sector, local government and potential project partners

The workshop sessions will be informal and will allow opportunity to develop concepts for projects that artists or organisations might then submit to the Expression of Interest process by Friday, 30 July 2011.

Successful projects are supported, through Creative Regions’ time, in getting to the application stage for attraction of funding/sponsorship.

Please note that this is NOT a funding program in and of itself, but a way of identifying projects that might be funded by other agencies.
