Celebrating our local high school artists at the Gallery & Museum

Cr Matt Burnett, Mayor Gladstone Regional Council will officially launch the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum’s The 25th Golding Showcase Port Curtis Callide Valley Youth Art Exhibition from 6pm Friday, 10 August 2018.

The 25th Golding Showcase: Port Curtis Callide Valley Youth Art Exhibition is an annual display and an initiative of the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum Society, supported by the late society patron, Mr Cyril Golding (1920 – 2012). This year marks 25 years of the Golding Showcase. The exhibition offers young people aged between 15 to 18 years the unique opportunity to display their artwork in a professional gallery space. Visitors to the exhibition are encouraged to vote for their favourite artwork to receive the ‘People’s Choice Award'.  The selected work will be announced at the exhibition's conclusion and will become the face of all publicity materials for the following year's exhibition.

This year, Toolooa State High School will be partnering with the Art Gallery & Museum to assist with the installation of the selected works in all media by young artists 15 - 18 years of age. Music and hospitality students will also be at the launch playing music and helping with the evening’s catering. Meghan Gwynne, Head Of Department – Arts and Whole School IT, Toolooa State High School will be speaking about being the partnering school for the 2018 Golding Showcase and the importance of Art in schools.

Everyone is welcome to come along to what will be a wonderful evening of celebration.  For all enquiries, contact the Gallery & Museum on (07) 4976 6766 or email gragm@gladstone.qld.gov.au
