Bring in your Art Awards submissions!

Queensland's much loved 'Rio Tinto Martin Hanson Memorial Art Awards', hosted by the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum, is calling for entries next week, 6 - 8 October 2016.

Artists from around the nation have the opportunity to take home the coveted overall prize of $15,000 sponsored by Rio Tinto, in addition to a lucrative prize pool of $25,000, thanks to the generous support of local individuals, businesses and industry, including Anderson's Auto City, Queensland Alumina Limited, Gladstone Area Water Board, Australia Pacific LNG, Gladstone Ports Corporation, McDonald's Gladstone Region and many more.

Now in its 41st year, the 'Art Awards' have established themselves as a nationally recognised event, annually receiving hundreds of submissions from around Australia from artists aged 15 years and over.  As in previous years, there are four sections of entry including, Easel Paintings, Works on Paper, Three Dimensional & Fibre Works and Digital Works.

Submissions into 'The 41st Rio Tinto Martin Hanson Memorial Art Awards 2016' are to be delivered to the Gallery & Museum next week, strictly between 10am - 5pm, Thursday 6, Friday 7 and Saturday 8 October. Unfortunately, late entries cannot be accepted. Entry fee is $15 per submission.

If you would like to enter a work into the competition, the 2016 Entry Form is available online: http://gragm.qld.gov.au

The Gallery & Museum doors will be closed Monday to Friday, 10 - 14 October, while installation is in progress. Curator, Jo Duke, will reopen the doors at 10am, Saturday 15 October, to reveal the completed exhibition.  The 'Art Awards' winners will be announced 6pm that night, after the exhibition has been officially opened.
