Art Award Opening Celebrations
The opening celebration of the annual Comalco Martin Hanson Memorial Art Awards is the biggest arts event on the region's social calendar with artists and supporters joining in the festivities to help celebrate and further the arts and culture in our region.
This year the celebrations will be bigger and better than ever and everyone is welcome to join in the fun!
Everyone is invited to attend the official opening of the Art Awards which will take place on Saturday, 4 November. The program of events starts with the Judge's Floortalk at 11.30am. Join the 2006 Judge, Consultant Curator Anne Kirker, for a tour of the exhibition followed by a light lunch (gold coin donation).
At 2pm the 2006 Judge, Anne Kirker, will present the annual illustrated public lecture. This year the topic is Printmaking over Time and Place: Its Pleasures and Complexities. In this public lecture Anne will explore the history, developments and innovations of printmaking and will take a closer look at prints from the fifteenth century through to digital technology used for multiple images on paper today.
The official opening of the exhibition and Awards presentations by Mitchell Innes, Manager Community Relations, Comalco, and guest speaker Anne Kirker will be held at 7pm and followed by light refreshments.
