Reef on Our Mind: The Great Barrier Reef in the Australian Psyche

-

The result of a three-year investigation by local artist Jan Ross-Manley into how the Reef has come to hold such a dear place in the hearts and minds of Australians.  Telling the story through art, objects and memorabilia, the exhibition shows how the colourful Wonder of the World has become a national treasure, imprinted onto the very core of Aussie DNA. There is a particular emphasis on the Capricornia and Bunker section of the Southern Great Barrier Reef, located in the Gladstone Region.

Supported by the Gladstone Regional Council Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF). RADF is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Gladstone Regional Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.

This project was made possible by the Australian Government’s Regional Arts Fund, provided through Regional Arts Australia, administered in Queensland by Flying Arts Alliance.

Official Launch: 6pm, Friday, 20 December 2019

Light refreshments will be provided, all welcome.
