Mirages and Illusions Artist Talk by Elena Churilova

-

Here at GRAGM we are lucky to host Elena’s stunning exhibition, Mirages and Illusions, showcasing beautiful views of Gladstone and the CQ coast. 25 September will be your last chance to view the exhibition and an exciting opportunity to hear from Elena.

Strongly influenced by her Russian cultural background, Elena’s art is based on classical drawing techniques developed and refined in a traditional Russian School of Art. Working in a variety of media, including watercolour and oil, you can see a distinctive style in Elena’s art. She loves to combine reality and fantasy, and her use of colour is just extraordinary.

Elena’s creativity and skill have won her several awards, including The Pamela Whitlock Memorial Acquisitive Award in The 45th Rio Tinto Martin Hanson Memorial Art Awards hosted by GRAGM, and Moore Australia Acquisitive Award at the 2020 Brigalow Arts Festival, hosted by the Banana Shire Regional Art Gallery.
