International Museum Day

18 May 2020

-

Every year since 1977, ICOM has organised International Museum Day (IMD), which represents a unique moment for the international museum community.

The objective of International Museum Day is to raise awareness on the fact that, “museums are an important means of cultural exchange, enrichment of cultures and development of mutual understanding, cooperation and peace among peoples”

The theme for 2020 is Museums for Equality: Diversity and Inclusion.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 Health Emergency no physical events can be held this year.

You can find out more about International Museum Day by visiting imd.icom.museum
