OFFICIAL OPENING Winter season of exhibitions

There's something for everyone at the Gallery/Museum from 6.30pm on Monday night July 7, during a gala event to launch the exciting Winter Season of exhibitions: 2008 Arts NAIDOC, Murri Portraits, All Together, 2Share and Creative Generations.

Liz Cunningham, Member for Gladstone will officially open Creative Generation: Excellence awards in visual art and design 2008-2009. A Department of Education, Training and the Arts exhibition toured by Museum & Gallery Services Queensland.

Cr George Creed, Mayor of Gladstone Region will officially open 2008 Arts NAIDOC, Murri Portraits, All Together and 2Share, joined by representatives from the local indigenous community.

Monday night's event will include performances by Gary Nagas and local indigenous young people as well as the much anticipated fashion parade coordinated by PJR Modelling featuring local Murri models and silk garments designed by Chilli House Fashion Designs. The fashion parade was a big hit during last year's celebrations and this year's show is certain to be as popular.

In a lead up to Monday's official opening evening there will be an opportunity to meet artists Danielle Mate and Katrina Elliott during a special preview event this Saturday afternoon, July 5 from 3pm.

Take the time explore Danielle's exhibition of paintings All Together and Katrina's photographic exhibition 2Share while spending some time with these two very talented local artists.
