Calling All Art and Music Lovers!

Next Thursday, September 10, workshop participants will gather at the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum for a community composition workshop with APRA Award Winner and ARIA Award Nominee, Topology. In town along with The Kransky Sisters for the hilarious performance, Tunes from the Tube, (Gladstone Entertainment and Convention Centre) Topology will conduct the FREE Top Up workshop between 12noon and 2pm.

Recent APRA Qld State Award Winner for Excellence in Music Education, the Top Up program gives participants the opportunity to collaborate with Topology and create new music inspired by artwork/s currently on display at the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum. Topology’s virtuoso composer and musicians will collaborate with participants in composing music on the spot and then performing it at the end of the workshop.  This type of original and improvised compositional workshop is a first for the Gallery & Museum who are looking forward to seeing what the workshop participants come up with.

Attendees will not be required to have any prior composition experience, so everyone (15+) is welcome to join in the fun.  By demystifying the creative process, the Topology crew hope that the workshop will demonstrate that anyone can create great music!  Of the workshop, a 2014 participant commented, “One of the most rewarding things about the workshop was that everyone was valued and everyone was part of it. And we got to present to ourselves a "finished" piece that was wow! A Topology workshop is a beautiful thing.”

"We’re really looking forward to taking our Top Up program to the Gladstone Region community for the first time," Robert Davidson, composer and Artistic Director said. "We really love collaborating and creating new music with people of all backgrounds, abilities and musical interests. Come along - the more the merrier!" he added.
