As part of Australia Day 2007 celebrations the Gladstone City Council called for entries in the inaugural Celebrate Australia Primary School Art Competition.

Open to ALL primary school students in the Port Curtis region, the competition encourages us to celebrate 'what and who makes Australia great'.

Winner Section Two, 2007 Celebrate Australia Primary School Art Competition Laura Darrach wrote about her work, Koala.

"The koala is lovable, cuddly, lives in the trees, eats only eucalypt leaves, does not drink, is an icon to Australia and loved by all. Tourists come to photograph and cuddle them."
